Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT)
Also known as “tapping”.
What Is EFT?
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an intervention that draws on various theories of Modern Western Psychology and Ancient Eastern Medicine including Acupuncture (without needles), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Thought Field Therapy. During an EFT session, the person will focus on a specific issue (emotional and/or physical) while he or she taps on certain end points of the body's energy meridians. This technique is gentle and effective and used to manage emotional and physical pain. It has been said that an EFT session “feels similar to getting a massage while engaging in counseling”
Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) was developed by Gary Craig in the 1990's. His explanation of EFT is the following:
"EFT is based on a new discovery that has provided thousands with relief from pain, diseases and emotional issues. Simply stated, it is an emotional version of acupuncture except needles aren’t necessary. Instead, you stimulate well established energy meridian points on your body by tapping on them with your fingertips. The process is easy to memorize and is portable so you can do it anywhere. It launches off the EFT Discovery Statement which says…
'The cause of all negative emotions is a disruption in the body’s energy system.'”
What is EFT used for?
The following is only a sample of issues in which EFT has been successful; it is not an all inclusive list. If you are suffering with an issue that is either on this list or not on this list, I encourage you to give EFT a try.
Anxiety disorders including: generalized, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias and panic attacks; depression, adult and childhood trauma, sexual abuse, PTSD, back pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, and so much more.
"EFT is a great tool that you can easily learn to help yourself with many issues. When dealing with complex issues or traumatic events, it is recommended that you seek a certified EFT Practitioner."
"The best way to understand EFT is to experience it. If you would like to learn a healthy way to manage the stress in your life or are seeking relief from a past event(or events) that continues to cause you pain or interferes with your life in some way, please consider contacting me. "
